D1 Pocket Panel $130 Rebate: Download Form
Introducing a real, portable attitude indicator
that can be used by ALL pilots:
Reviews Agree: The D1 Pocket Panel really is "a little attitude for everyone!"
"After a few flights I became convinced that I could easily stay right side up in the clouds with only the D1 as reference. Compared to the old emergency fallback of a turn coordinator only to establish attitude after a vacuum pump failure the D1 is something like, well, about 100 times easier to fly.”- July 2012 Read More
"The D1, I've decided, is perhaps the perfect emergency backup flight display." - Oct 2012 print issue
“We took the D1 up for a real-world test and quickly understood its potential value…The AHRS technology in the unit works wonderfully, and the GPS speed, course and altitude data perform well enough that we became convinced the unit could indeed be a lifesaver if critical systems installed in the airplane started failing in IMC or at night….We tested powering the unit on in midflight and were impressed by its ability to provide basic pitch and roll information in about 15 seconds.” - July 2012 Read More
“Dynon’s new D1 “pocket panel” is an extremely clever, useful, and simple-to-use device that accelerates the march of Experimental avionics into the cockpits of Standard-category airplanes.” “The D1 is ideal for Light Sport aircraft and vintage airplanes that lack electrical systems. Aerobatic pilots flying airplanes without gyros to and from contests and airshows are likely customers, as well as glider pilots. And the D1 also is sure to be a hit among ferry pilots.” - Oct 2012 Read More
“In flight, the D1 is little short of amazing: Roll and pitch displays perfectly match those from the mechanical attitude indicator, and the inclinometer matches the skid ball on the turn coordinator.” - July 2012
“The $1,425 D1 Pocket Panel puts a fully functional primary flight display (PFD) within reach of pilots of literally any airplane ever made—even those without a built-in electrical system.” - July 2012
“Besides functioning as an effective backup instrument, the D1 also provides an inexpensive way for pilots to familiarize themselves with PFD symbology and operation” - July 2012 Read More
“If this gadget works as well for others as it did for us, we have little doubt it will become a good choice for owners seeking backups for their creaky vacuum instruments.” - Sep 2012 print issue

Aircraft Spruce's Quick Feature Review of the D1...
The D1 Pocket Panel is a true artificial horizon based on the same technology that drives Dynon’s Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS).
Dynon is a leader in designing and manufacturing MEMS-based AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference Systems) using calibrated solid state gyros and accelerometers. This hardware is combined with an advanced flight dynamics algorithm to accurately determine aircraft true attitude without drift. The D1 can be turned on in flight and it quickly determines true attitude.
A high-quality, highly sensitive GPS receiver is also built into the D1 to provide GPS ground speed, altitude, vertical speed, and ground track for enhanced flight situational awareness.
The D1 Pocket Panel is not a smartphone or tablet app, or a GPS-derived “simulated instrument panel.” Unlike those consumer devices, the D1 is a dedicated avionics instrument. With a real AHRS, and designed and calibrated for in-cockpit use, you can rely on it to give you accurate flight information. It will be on and ready when you
need it; it isn’t going to switch away from your attitude indicator to display a calendar reminder!
With over four hours of battery life the D1 can be used with no connection to ship’s power. However, a “cigarette lighter” DC vehicle adaptor is included if you want to keep the D1 fully charged at all times, and it can be set to turn on and off with the aircraft’s Battery Master through the DC outlet.
True EFIS Attitude in a Portable Package
Portable Mounting Options Included,
True Attitude plus GPS Flight Data
The D1 Pocket Panel is a portable device that aids situational awareness. The D1 does not have TSO authorization from the FAA or other regulatory body, and is not suitable for permanent installation in type certificated aircraft.
The D1’s Ground Speed, Altitude, Vertical Speed, and Ground Track (direction) instruments are GPS-derived. Their indications WILL BE DIFFERENT from the airspeed, altimeter, VSI, and heading instruments in your aircraft panel. The D1’s GPS-based indications should not be considered replacements for any of these primary aircraft instruments.
